HIKING

Work up a sweat, and experience Perhentian’s tropical rainforest and enjoy magnificent island views on our recommended 30 minute Windmill Trail. Hike along the short trail towards the north of the island and up a comfortable path to the island’s two windmills.

Before or even after your trip to Perhentian Island, you can check out the various attractions in Kota Bharu. The town is known for being rich in cultural heritage from the various museums to places of worship. You can always opt to try some local food or see how the local crafts are made such as batik or wood carvings. Perhaps pick up a souvenir or two before you head back from the central market.

Let BuBu’s private speed boat whisk you the 30 minutes across the South China Sea to magical Perhentian Island! Located off the north-east coast of peninsula Malaysia, BuBu is accessible from the small fishing town of Kuala Besut. Situated between Kota Bharu and Kuala Terengganu; the state capitals of Kelantan and Terengganu respectfully, Kuala Besut is a charming town in its own right, with murals and wooden houses; but it is best known as the gateway to Perhentian Island.

Best accessed from Kota Bharu airport, with Kuala Terengganu airport twice the distance, we can arrange your own private luxury transfer in our dedicated Toyota Velfire from either airport to our Meet & Greet office in Kuala Besut. Alternatively, you can book individual seats in our scheduled coach shuttles. Please find prices and schedules below.

Additionally, Kuala Besut is accessible via train: Tanah Merah Train Station; and by bus: Kuala Besut & Jerteh bus stations.

KUALA BESUT MEET & GREET OFFICE

The Kuala Besut Jetty is the official jetty servicing Perhentian Island, and such is where we have our official BuBu Meet & Greet Office. Our office is located in the heart of the town, and is just a couple minutes’ walk to the jetty, and provides guests with a comfortable resting place and a place to keep your luggage before boarding our boat to the island. There’s plenty of secure parkings just around the jetty area just in case you’re driving to Pulau Besut.

IMPORTANT NOTES

• We can arrange land transfer service to and from Kota Bharu Airport or Kuala Terengganu Airport, any hotels in Kota Bharu, train stations and Jerteh bus station. Our land transfer will coordinate with our boat service for your comfort and convenience.

• It is inadvisable to accept transport offers from other operators if your transfer has already been arranged with the resort. This is to avoid unnecessary costs and inconveniences, as well as irresponsible service from other, possibly unlicensed operators.

• Please make sure that your boat transfer to the island uses the jetty at KUALA BESUT, and not any other illegal boat jetty. To avoid inconvenience, please arrange the boat transfer and, if required, the land transfer, directly with the resort. The resort management will ensure a smooth, convenient and hassle-free transfer to and from the resort.
